What are the requirements for obtaining a CAPM certification?

There are 2 options. You either need 1500 hours of actual project management experience (That's roughly about 3 years' experience working on a real project) or 23 hours of project management training from a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP). If you have studied project management as a subject at college/university, it would be another way to qualify for the CAPM certification.

How do I apply for the CAPM examination?

Go to PMI's online certification page. This page lets you set up an account with PMI for enrolment and getting information on membership and certification.

How much do I need to pay for CAPM exam fees?

PMI Members pay $225 for the test and non-members pay $300. So, it would be worth considering becoming a member of PMI and avail the first of several benefits that are available only to members. You can find out more by visiting http://www.pmi.org/Membership/Membership-Benefits-of-Membership.aspx

What are the PMI membership fees?

If you are a student, then you pay USD 32 only for PMI membership. However, if you are not a student then as an individual you pay USD 129 to join (plus USD $10 application fee).
As a PMI member, you gain exclusive access to PMI publications and our global standards, networking options with our chapters and online communities of practice, and leadership and volunteer opportunities. You'll also receive discounts on certification exams and renewals, as well as our professional development offerings.

What is the CAPM® certification?

PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is a valuable entry-level certification for project practitioners. Designed for those with little or no project experience, the CAPM demonstrates your understanding of the principles and terminology of A Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), the standard of project management’s generally recognized good practices.

What is the difference between the Certified Associate in Project Management CAPM® and the project Management Professional (PMP)® certifications?

The CAPM recognizes a demonstrated understanding of the fundamental knowledge, processes and terminology as defined in the PMBOK Guide that are needed for effective project management performance. The PMP recognizes demonstrated experience, education and competence in leading and directing project teams. If you’re an experienced project manager looking to solidify your skills, stand out to employers and maximize your earning potential, the PMP credential is the right choice for you.
